Data at Fred Hutch
The Office of the CDO staff support a variety of staff-oriented supports, resources and tools. We share those resources as broadly as possible as the tools and education needs of data-users at Fred Hutch are shared by others working in the biomedical data space.
We do this outreach and sharing via what we call the Data Science Lab (this site) and it’s affiliates (the hutchdatascience.org site). We also support Fred Hutch in both overall Data Strategy as well as advancing Data Partnerships.
Our Groups
You can meet our staff via our about page.
We offer year-round data science courses, workshops and community events to help staff learn to work with their data.
Our Data Science team supports facilitated access to our patient data for research as well as helping research staff work with their own research and laboratory data.
Our Human Computer Interaction group supports the development of open source research software via collaborations with staff.
Our Data Governance team supports our Consortium data governance relationships as well as execute Fred Hutch data governance processes to enable responsible data and AI use.
Translational Data Engineering
Our Engineering team, in collaboration with our other teams and IT, supports the development and implementation of data infrastructure and tools targeted at translational data needs.
Data Culture
“Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” In our group we believe that a strong, inclusive culture is essential to achieving our mission. Our core values and community event guidelines reflect this commitment, fostering an environment where respect, curiosity, and collaboration drive innovation. Through shared principles and open participation, we create a space where every voice contributes to advancing healthcare and research.
